Arctic Polar Cap DISAPPEARING!

Well, if you didn't believe in global warming before, I hope you do now (like Pres. Bush admitted last July). Check on this ABC link below. In a nutshell: it's speculated at the current rate of melting the Arctic ice cap will be GONE in 100 years!!!! Read the article.

Jewell-isms

Like all people middle-aged - or certainly parents - I'm developing little sayings that seem to summarize aspects of life. I've decided to put some here - as I think of them. Therefore, I hope to add to this from time to time. They don't come to me very often, though....

-- You can always tell the rich by how much they waste.

-- The day you stop exercising is the day you begin to die.

-- Jesus said the way is narrow and few find it. Therefore, if I look around and the way is crowded, I should start wondering if I missed the exit somewhere.

-- (not my original) If you put a dog in a car on a hot summer day and roll up all the windows, will the car suffer? (global warming)

Back from Montana

Montana was again wonderful! I hiked 200 miles over the months of July and August. And again took many pictures. I'll try to post a few here, but they can also be found at:
www.my-webgallery.com Under the "search" button, search for: MrsMoose. That seems to bring up my three albums there.

We ended up coming home one week early because my work needed me (part-time job, working for a lawyer). But in hindsight, God was in it. Had we waited until that final week, we well could have been caught up in Katrina, and if we missed her, then soaring gas prices (while we drive a huge van that gets 10 mpg). So...either way, it's good we came home a week early.

The first full day here, I went out to begin cleaning my garden. Ended up being swarmed by hornets! I got five bites by the time Ben threw me into the shower. While I was in there, he killed 10 more hornets that had come inside with me. And now (I think as a result of those stings), poison ivy has found me again and I'm breaking out in several places. I never used to be allergic to poison ivy, but now it's really bad! I think my body's reaction to the hornet bites set it in overdrive and the poison ivy came on the wind and my body over-reacted to it. Whatever! I've now been itching for the past week.

So...it's a joy to be in hot, humid, overgrown Asheville. Fall is is coming.....
